Interior Basement Drain

An interior basement drain, or a French drain, is designed to help prevent seepage issues, as well as puddles on your floor. When you’re facing flooding, or water coming in around the walls, this drain system helps to soak up that water and direct it elsewhere. In most cases, it will run the perimeter of your basement, with a trench dug into the ground. A pipe is placed in the trench, and then a permeable layer is put over that. Finally, it’s covered with gravel, which allows water to soak through quickly and move away from the basement.

Sump Pump Installation

Whether you need sump pump maintenance, a brand-new sump pump, or a sump pump replacement, Drycrete can help. In order for your pump to work effectively, it has to be the right one for your needs. Our teams are trained to help you find the right fit, and will install it properly. The sump pumps that we use have Smart Shield technology to provide the ultimate protection.

Moisture Control System

Ideally, the humidity throughout your home should be less than 40%. Anything over 60% could cause mold or water damage. High humidity leads to extra moisture, and this is hard on your home and basement. A moisture control system uses a dehumidifier to help control the humidity and moisture levels. This is another great level of protection against excess moisture and potential water damage.

Foundation Wall Crack Repair

When you start to notice cracks in your basement walls or floors, this is typical because of hydrostatic pressure. The pressure from the soil outside your home causes your walls to settle, move, expand, and contract. This can often lead to cracks. While cracks happen from natural circumstances, you want to be sure to get them repaired quickly. Repairing cracks prevents further damage and protects the structural integrity of your foundation.

Foundation Wall Wrap

A foundation wall wrap adds an antimicrobial vapor barrier around your walls and floors in the basement. At Drycrete, we use Flexi-Seal to accommodate this. It helps seal out vapors from the ground, prevents moisture from penetrating, and protects your walls and floors from moisture that causes damage.

Warning Signs of Water Damage

There are several signs that you can look for to determine whether you have water damage. Chances are, if you have excess moisture in the basement, you probably are going to face water damage too.

These are the signs that you can watch for:

  • Condensation on the walls or floors. This could be damp spots, beads of water, or even puddles that you’re noticing.
  • Smells of mustiness or mildew.
  • Water seepage coming in from cracks, or around the floor and wall connection.
  • Dampness from extra humidity in the air.
  • Efflorescence: the white chalky stuff that is sometimes found on walls and floors.

Problems Caused by Interior Water Damage

Taking action when you notice these signs is absolutely crucial. If left untreated, water in the basement can lead to any number of issues, like these:

  • Damage to the foundation or structural integrity of your home
  • Rotten support beams that become unstable
  • Weakened floor joists, typically from rotting or excess moisture
  • Dampness and high humidity levels in the basement
  • Growth of mold or mildew throughout the space
  • Stains or discoloration on floors or walls
  • Items stored in the basement getting warped, damaged, or ruined

Water damage doesn’t always just occur from heavy rainfall. Anything like excessive humidity, or moisture sneaking in the cracks, can lead to damages just like these and cause you a world of heartache in the end. The risks include the health of your household, but also will eventually affect the structural integrity of your home. Get issues taken care of as quickly as possible, or prevent them completely with basement waterproofing
